Solid first half wasn't enough. Anwil Włocławek defeated PGE Turów 86:76 and took the lead 1:0 in the quarter-final series to three wins.

PGE Turow Zgorzelec basketball players, according to their announcements, went to the floor of the Champions Hall without any complexes, and from the first minutes they put themselves on the winners of the main round. Robert Skibniewski was the perfect player in the attack, who throughout the entire game recorded a total of 6 assists, from behind the arch was Jakub Patoka, and from a long distance Rod Camphor, thanks to which the black and green were losing only 41:48.

The troubles of the team lead by coach Michael Claxton, however, began after the break, when Anwil launched their main asset, hard defense. The hosts stopped the visitors in the third quarter on 13 points scored. In addition, the Zgorzelec clearly lost the competition under the basket (27:40) allowing their rivals to 18 rebounds offensive, and to make matters worse, they were free throws (13/23).

- Anwil played with great energy, especially in the second half, which made the main difference. More concentration, losses, free throws and offensive rebounds are the elements that have settled this match today. We have video analysis ahead of us and we will definitely be ready to compete in the second battle - commented coach Michael Claxton.

For the moment, their leaders didn't play a key role in both teams. Cameron Ayers scored 17 points, but Stefan Balmazović was stopped by Anwil at 8. - Balmazović didn't have much space to give free throws. Anwil did a good job on the handover, while in our case the ball didn't circulate at a good pace - explained Claxton.
On the other side of the floor, Ivan Almeida failed, who saved 17 points, but only 4/11 of the game and made 5 losses.

The team from Zgorzelec don't drop their heads, because in the first half they proved that they can be an equal rival for Anwil, and the play-off competition is just beginning.

- We didn't hit 10 free throw, we lost 18 rebound in the attack, and despite that we lost only 10 points difference. I think that if we improve it, we can fight for victory here - says Robert Skibniewski.

The second quarter-final duel is already on Saturday at 20.15. Broadcast in Polsat Sport Extra.
