Double joy!

PGE Turów couldn't dream a more beautiful Saturday evening! Black and greens, after a series of 4 defeats in a row, won with Polski Cukier Toruń 97:88! In the stands generosity during the fundraising and auctioning of gadgets for the seriously ill Julita Dec was shown by the Zgorzelec fans.

- 23 assists and five players with double figuers. I can't be more proud of these boys anymore! - the coach Michael Claxton admitted after the final siren. And to this you should add 44 points gained by the reserve and 23 assists distributed with only 12 of rivals.

- I am very proud of the effort of the whole team. We looked on the court more like a team, and this is the element that we're working on all the time. I'm happy with how the players stayed together. It was very important for us to break the series of failures. We proved ourselves that we can be a strong and winning team - said the American coach of PGE Turow.

PGE Turow built a safe lead in the third quarter in which after Bartosz Bochno throw for three the team was already leading by 80:63. This doesn't mean, however, that at PGE Turów Arena, it hasn't yet become hot. - We were concentrated for 35-38 minutes. Although in the fourth quarter there was a moment when we lost our rhythm against the zone defense of the rivals, but eventually we came back to the game after a few time-outs - explained Claxton.

It was then that rivals from Toruń approached the hosts at a distance of 6 "eyes". However, Cameron Ayers (17 points, 5 as.) scored in cold blood, the already mentioned Bochno threw himself on the floor and knocked the ball from Wisniewski, and Brad Waldow first spectacularly blocked Glenn Cosey, and after a while it was equally effective a way to finish off with a pointless throw of Ayers. The American scored a total of 17 points, he had 15 rebounds, and in addition he could count on solid support of Karolis Petrukonis, who in 10 minutes threw 11 points and had 5/5 from the game.

- We shared the ball perfectly! It is a great victory for us with a very strong rival. There is a reason why Polski Cukier is in second place in the table. They are strong especially in the attack, and most of the time we played against them really well in defense. I am proud of us and I think that this victory will drive us - commented Cameron Ayers

The clash with the Polish silver medalist and currently the second best team in the Energa Basket Liga  was an ideal moment for PGE Turow basketball players to get out of the hole and break a series of four defeats in a row, including two with lower-ranked rivals.

- We knew we had to play hard against the team from Toruń. Every team in this league can lose with each and there are no guarantees. We need to find our regularity so that no matter who we play with, be just as focused. We still have 9 matches of the main round and we have to treat them all as a fight for the playoffs - admitted Michael Claxton.

There was no end of joy on Saturday evening, because the Zgorzelec won not only on the floor, but also in the stands, where generous supporters collected and bid on attractive gadgets for a faster recovery of the seriously ill Julita Dec. On Saturday, Julita for the first time in a long time sat at PGE Turów Arena together with her parents, and PGE Turow fans once again showed that black and green hearts beat the hardest!

- It all beautifully connected with each other! I am very happy about it, because these are cases of fate which show that we can't be sure of anything and can't go too far into the future. It can happen to anyone in every second of their life. We won, fans were generous, there were great emotions. We help as much as we can, and it is worth noting that online auctions are still. Let's open our hearts and help, because it can happen to all of us. I wish Julita a quick recovery! - Captain Bartosz Bochno said excitedly.
